On our latest Destination Magic podcast, we talked about Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, the new Frozen featurette film that plays before Coco; some of us liked it and some didn’t. Looks like Disney may be hearing the dislike from more than just us.
Mashable shares that beginning December 8, the 22-minute “short” will be removed from Coco screenings. Disney has asked theaters to use the extra time to fit in more daily screenings of Coco.
There have been many reasons fans haven’t been thrilled with Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Most shorts before Pixar movies are about 10 minutes; Olaf is 22 minutes long. This length means that Coco doesn’t start until 40 minutes after the advertised start time, which is a long time to wait for a kids’ movie to start. It’s also a Disney Animation Studios film, when the shorts are normally made by Pixar. Some feel that it’s basically a commercial for Frozen 2, which comes out in 2019.
Mashable reached out to Disney for comment, but has not yet heard back.
