This week, the Disneyland Resort has hosted two previews of “Together Forever–A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular”. I was fortunate to see both previews. Our video shows off Thursday night’s show:
Together Forever–A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular is a really fun show. This is a perfect show for summer, and it’s a great cap to the entire Pixar Fest going on. Like the 60th anniversary fireworks, which were also really good, this one utilizes projections along Main Street, U.S.A. This is really ideal, as Sleeping Beauty Castle is the smallest of all Disney castles. It has projections as well, but if you’re not standing around the hub, it’s really difficult to appreciate the projections.
There are a couple of big highlights:
- Buzz Lightyear appears right at the start of the show, flying to infinity and beyond. It’s not quite Tinkerbell coming down the Matterhorn, but it’s still a cool moment.
- There was a wave of excitement when the Coco segment started. Look for the skeletons on the roofs of Main Street, U.S.A.
- The tone of the fireworks takes a quiet twist 2/3 through the show. It’s when we see the characters of UP. And with that we see the signature house with balloons sailing past Sleeping Beauty Castle. With that, balloons rise up along all the walls of Main Street, U.S.A.
- Remember that scene in Toy Story 3 where Woody and his friends are on a moving belt heading toward an incinerator? It’s kind of a funky choice for a fireworks show, but as you see everything move down the street, you see a blaze of fire from the castle. It is a unique effect.
Together Forever–A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular ends with a strong light-up-the-sky climax. The show isn’t Happily Ever After at the Magic Kingdom. But it’s a great way to end a stay at Disneyland during Pixar Fest. Before Star Wars Land premieres next year, this is the summer to visit Disneyland if you haven’t been before.
